Spirent Facilitates China Mobile Showcase of Enhanced Voice Services

Shanghai, China, 28 June 2017: Spirent Communications, the leading provider in mobile network, service and device testing, will be featured as part of China Mobile Limited’s (CMCC’s) audio quality exhibit at this year’s GSMA 2017 Mobile World Congress event taking place in Shanghai on 28 June – 1 July. The Spirent Umetrix™ Voice platform (Nomad) will be used in the exhibit to demonstrate and highlight the powerful benefits of EVS.

The EVS codec is increasingly being deployed on mobile devices as global operators recognize the improvements possible in speech quality for their customers as well as efficiencies gained in managing network resources. EVS codecs can bring full band High-Definition (HD) voice to devices operating over 4G networks, as well as compensate for issues such as speech distortions and latency. These factors provide an overall superior user experience beyond what is achievable on currently prevalent AMR-WB codecs.

“As the mobile ecosystem implements new technologies such as the EVS codec, it needs leading-edge test solutions that address the challenges of ensuring superior user experience and high efficiency on wireless networks,” said Rich McNally, senior director of service experience at Spirent Communications. “Spirent experts have been in the forefront of voice and video services deployment for many years – in both the live network and lab environment – working with industry leaders to understand device characteristics and develop test plans designed to meet the high standards for quality acceptance testing needs. We’re proud to be a key part of this exhibit for CMCC in such a critical test area.”
