Industry’s Highest Density 100GbE Test Modules Enable Testing of Next Generation Hyperscale Data Center Infrastructure

Sunnyvale, Calif. – September 1, 2015 – Spirent Communications, the leader in networks, services and devices testing, today announced the availability of the industry’s highest density 100GbE test modules. With eight ports per slot, the new module is more than double the density of the nearest competing platform and helps evaluate switch fabric performance that impact the quality of real-time video delivery, high frequency trading, and other time-sensitive and cloud-based services. 

Both top-of-rack and aggregation switches require 100GbE to deal with the exploding demand for bandwidth to support cloud computing applications. Some feature as many as 32 100GbE ports per switch slot or rack unit.  The new DX2-100GbE QSFP28 and CFP4 8-port modules allow equipment vendors and their customers to evaluate drop-free throughput, delay, jitter, power consumption and availability of these switches under the stress of line-rate traffic.

Available with native QSFP28 (DX2-100GO-T8) and CFP4 (DX2-100GO-R8) interfaces, the modules support direct attach copper (DAC) for 100GBASR-CR4 as well as active optical cables (AOC) and optical transceivers for 100GBASE-SR4.  The modules also support new technologies that are driving 100GbE in the data center such as forward error correction (FEC), auto-negotiation and link-training.
