Spirent Scoops Fierce Innovation Award for Automation
Spirent Velocity recognized by Fierce Telecom for outstanding lab and test automation success
Frederick, MD, December 10, 2020 – Spirent Communications plc (LSE:SPT), the leading provider of automated test and assurance solutions for next-generation devices and networks, was today named the winner in the AI/Analytics/Automation category of the 2020 Fierce Innovation Awards – Telecom Edition. The annual peer-reviewed awards program from Fierce Wireless and Fierce Telecom spotlights advances in service and equipment development, and selected Spirent Velocity for its industry leadership in lab and test automation.
Spirent Velocity aggregates geographically disparate labs, making infrastructure, turnkey tests and automated vendor-neutral testbeds available on-demand for network operators and their partners. Instead of coordinating resources, or waiting for lab availability, customers get immediate access to the testing and validation tools they need. This means new products and services can make it to market faster.
“We are extremely honored to have our Velocity solution named the winner in this extremely competitive category,” said Doug Roberts, General Manager of Spirent’s Lifecycle Service Assurance business unit. “We believe automation is an essential capability for organizations to keep pace with the speed of digital transformation which is driving faster and faster development and deployment cycles. It’s a must-have for today’s DevOps teams.”
One such organization is Calix, a global provider of cloud and software platforms, which used Spirent Velocity to enable the consolidation of all its regional labs into a single location, housed in Salt Lake City, Utah. Previously, it took Calix 50 man-hours to set up complex network lab tests, but with Velocity automating workflows, it now takes only 10 minutes.
“On average, Velocity customers experience at least a 100x gain in operational efficiency through consolidation of lab resources, dramatically reduced test setup time, and overall optimization of workflows,” said Roberts.
The Fierce Innovation Awards host, Questex received a record number of submissions for this year’s competition, with applications reviewed by an exclusive panel of executives from major telecommunications companies and analysts. These included T-Mobile, Telia Carrier AB, Recon Analytics, iGR, Mobile Ecosystem, Mobile Experts, Inc., Senza Fili, and Futuriom. All submissions were evaluated based on ease of use, return on investment, effectiveness, technical innovation, competitive advantage, and financial impact.
