Creating a robust RF test plan for tactical and other mission critical radio systems requires specialized techniques. The standard RF channel modeling used in typical cellular and wi-fi tests can fall short. Mission critical devices encounter higher doppler, lower frequency ranges, multiple device-to-device paths and other challenges that make standard channel models and test approaches unsuitable.

This webinar examines the unique aspects of tactical and other mission critical mesh radio systems and their impacts on propagation. It concludes with guidance in creating a robust test methodology that systematically covers conditions that are difficult to validate in the field.

Dave Garrison has over 25 years of combined experience in new product and business development, product management and strategic planning. Dave leads the global RF channel emulation team, concentrating on assuring the performance of critical 5G radio communications. He is focused on the delivery of innovative solutions to simplify the complexity and economics of 5G testing, while helping to accelerate the advancement of 5G implementation. Currently located in New Jersey, Dave holds both a BS and MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Jukka-Pekka (JP) Nuutinen, Senior Solutions Architect, Spirent Communications

JP Nuutinen is an industry-renowned subject matter expert in radio channel emulation with over 20 years of experience in engineering and research and is currently focused on cellular base station (gNodeB) and device test methodology for 5G technologies. Born in Valkeakoski, Finland, JP holds both Masters and Licentiate Technology degrees from Tampere University of Technology. He has more than 20 granted patents in addition to over 30 authored or co-authored publications.
