CASE STUDY
Helping an Automobile Technology Company Improve Vehicle Intelligence
Challenges
In-vehicle intelligence applications involve three levels - sensing, planning and executing. In automated driving, for example, vehicles are moving in environments with known dynamics, requiring building of maps of the environment for vehicle positioning, and involving accurate time synchronization of data from various sensors. High level of intelligence applications like L3 and above autonomous driving require a clock synchronization accuracy of microsecond or even nanosecond level. It has become an issue with more and more attention to accurately verify the accuracy of clock synchronization.
In addition, in-vehicle time sensitive networks have specific performance metrics like time slot accuracy, for example, other than traditional Ethernet networks. Therefore, effective testing and assessment of such metrics has become a difficult task for the industry.
Key Requirements
In the implementation of TSN solutions for in-vehicle intelligence products, a provider with mature technologies and abundant experiences is a prerequisite for standard-compliant flexible testing and verifications, including:
Quantification assessment of clock sync accuracy among in-vehicle ECUs;
Ensuring interoperability of TSN related protocols among in-vehicle ECUs;
Quantification assessment of TSN-specific performance metrics.
