Spirent Supports New H3C in Tolly Labs’ Largest Ever High Density 100G Cluster Core Router Performance Test

BEIJING, China – May 29, 2019Spirent Communications plc (LSE:SPT), the leader in Ethernet test and measurement, today announced the successful support of New H3C Group to complete the validation of its high-density 100G cluster core router with 480 ports of 100GbE. Moderated by independent test lab Tolly Enterprises, the New H3C CR19000 router 2+2 cluster’s 48Tbps full-mesh line-rate forwarding test was the largest scale performance evaluation Tolly had ever conducted, and confirmed the cluster router’s performance as an industry leader.

Rapid growth in multimedia and cloud service traffic requires continuous network capacity expansion for telecoms service providers and enterprises, highlighting the limitations of capacity, reliability and scalability of single-chassis core routers. The new generation of cluster routers are the most effective solution for telecom operators to expand IP backbone network capacity, so independent testing of such critical core routers provides reassurance of operational stability to ensure that carrier services remain permanently online.

The test of H3C’s advanced CR19000 cluster core router was conducted using Spirent TestCenter and the Spirent N11U chassis network performance test solution, which included the industry's highest port density and performance 100G MX3/FX3/PX3 test modules, capable of TB-level routing performance, cascaded into a set of cluster testers. The successful test verification of the New H3C CR19000 demonstrated the stability of the 100G cluster core router, confirming its capacity to meet the stringent requirements of carriers’ backbone networks.

Kevin Tolly, founder of The Tolly Group, said: “The New H3C CR19000 router 2+2 cluster’s 48Tbps full-mesh line-rate forwarding test was our largest scale performance test so far. All test cases went through smoothly and the CR19000 demonstrated industry-leading performance and high availability. During the testing process, Spirent test tools, as always, worked reliably and provided all necessary functionalities for the performance evaluation and feature validation.”

Spirent’s test cluster is capable of high performance routing protocol emulation capabilities which can simulate large-scale and multi-protocol topology, and provide precise and comprehensive application performance testing. It can evaluate and verify the throughput, Quality-of-Service and performance of core routing and large-scale switching products. It can also accurately evaluate the delay and jitter of large-scale equipment by accurate clock synchronization between chassis.

“Since it was introduced, the CR19000 cluster router has been widely adopted by carriers, smart grid, internet, and government users,” said New H3C Group Vice President, and VP of Network Products, Bi Shouwen. “The successful validation by Tolly further reinforces the high performance and reliability of our CR19000 and we were pleased to work with Spirent to verify this.”

Speaking about the test, Spirent General Manager of Cloud and IP, Abhitesh Kastuar said: “Our support for this evaluation and feature validation once again demonstrates our leadership in high-speed Ethernet testing technologies, and the value of our continuous program of development. We appreciate New H3C Group for again selecting us as their trusted partner to verify the performance of the CR19000."
