Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) are transforming our lives and the world around us. But the design, research and development of location-aware technology can be slow, complex and costly.
At Spirent, we work to make it fast, affordable and simple, by creating the world’s most powerful, innovative and accurate testing systems.
Spirent is the global leader in GNSS testing, and has been for a quarter of a century. We deliver navigation and positioning test equipment and services to governmental agencies, major manufacturers, integrators, test facilities and space agencies worldwide.
We offer today’s most comprehensive range of Multi-GNSS and hybrid testing solutions, and we’re working on tomorrow’s as you read this.

Unrivalled in Accuracy, Functionality and Innovation
Whether you’re developing a GNSS-enabled system for military, civil or consumer use, rigorous, accurate testing is vital: to protect human life, ensure national security or maintain competitive advantage.
Built on near 30 years’ experience at our industry’s cutting edge, Spirent test solutions lead the world in accuracy, functionality and innovation. They enable rigorous prototyping, benchmarking and field-testing, while lowering costs and accelerating R&D. Our solutions support, fast, simple and comprehensive:
- GNSS and Multi-GNSS receiver design, R&D, integration and field-testing
- Hybrid positioning system design, R&D, integration and field-testing
- Performance and production line testing of all location-aware devices

Our Simulation and Record & Playback Systems
Simulation
GNSS receiver R&D relies on controlled, repeatable performance testing – something that’s impossible to achieve by pointing a receiver at a constantly changing sky.
This is why we’ve pioneered the use of GNSS simulation. Simulation enables the comprehensive testing of receivers and devices in a wide range of scenarios, in a controlled laboratory environment.
Our GNSS and Multi-GNSS simulators deliver:
- Repeatable, comprehensive testing with complete control over all aspects of test scenarios, from GNSS signals to environmental conditions
- Faster, lower cost testing with default settings suitable for many standard tests, rapid creation and execution of new test scenarios, and tools to automate both testing and reporting
- Future-proof testing with the ability to quickly and easily add new satellite constellations, and to test against tomorrow’s GNSS and regional augmentation signals before they go live, including Compass (BeiDou), Galileo and INRSS
Record and Playback
Field testing is a vital stage in GNSS receiver R&D. But with the time and money spent transporting equipment to test sites, and the inability to recreate the same live GNSS signals and interference between each test run, it can also be one of the most costly and difficult.
Our industry-leading Record and Playback system, the GSS6400, enables R&D teams to record a live GNSS environment in all its richness, alongside serial data from a device’s internal sensors. This data can them be replayed at will in the laboratory, accelerating testing, lowering costs and delivering truly comparable results.

Solutions for Today and Tomorrow
When Spirent first began creating GNSS testing systems, GPS was the only signal available. Now, as new global and regional satellite constellations come online and new technologies are used to augment GNSS positioning, we’re leading the way with Multi-GNSS and hybrid testing.
Between them, Multi-GNSS and hybrid positioning promise:
- More accurate fixes
- More consistent fixes
- New applications for GNSS and augmented GNSS technology
Our unique Multi-GNSS simulators and hybrid testing solutions support today’s most ground-breaking GNSS receiver R&D. Learn more about them here:
