Overview

The VR5 spatial channel emulator brings unprecedented ease of use to testing the latest cutting edge technologies such as MIMO OTA, beamforming, 8x4 MIMO, TD-LTE, WiFi 802.11n/ac, LTE-Advanced, and bi-directional or handover testing on both base stations and mobile devices.  It greatly simplifies the configuration of complex test setups, supporting bidirectional RF channels of up to 6 GHz. A variety of advanced dynamic channel models are supported, in addition to scalable bandwidth and channel density.

Features & Benefits

MIMO OTA Reverb and Anechoic Chamber Compatible
Test the important area of MIMO OTA, either in a reverberation chamber configruation or an anechoic chamber configuration without requiring new hardware. Virtual OTA testing can also be performed on the VR5.
Simplified 8x4 MIMO Emulation
The VR5 greatly simplifies testing for highly advanced configurations like 8x4 MIMO bidirectional beamforming which are complex to set up, with advanced features such as input and automatic phase calibration.
Support for WiFi testing
Platform allows easy scalability of all the way up to 100 MHz, facilitating both WiFi and LTE testing on the same unit, including support for LTE-A Carrier Aggregation that requires wider bandwidths.
Support for IoT
The VR5 has support for standards-based Wi-Fi and WINNER/WINNER-II channel models to facilitate performance and co-existence testing in a variety of network environments associated with various IoT deployments.
Accurate real world emulation
Scanner data can be converted using the Dynamic Emulation Environment (DEE) feature from Virtual Drive Test software that facilitates accurate reproduction of field data.
Flexibility and scalability
The VR5 emulator is a highly flexible platform that offers the option to upgrade and add features for better cost efficiency. The wide bandwidth support and superior EVM performance make it a reliable platform to scale up to test requirements of advanced technologies like LTE-Advanced.
