Spirent, as a manufacturer of proven and reliable GPS and GNSS test systems, understands the increasing complexity of issues developers face. In spite of a broad range of industry leading products, Spirent is readily aware that manufacturers cannot always meet the requirements of each and every customer, particularly when a customer needs a bespoke variation not offered through a standard product – e.g. a modified signal or indeed, a signal from a different experimental satellite system.
To respond to this need, Spirent offers a modification or bespoke approach to meeting customers’ specific needs where these are not met by a standard product. Tailored solutions typically offer modifications to an existing product to meet specific project demands. As appropriate, Spirent’s solution team will project manage the whole process, ensuring that you receive an integrated solution to meet your particular needs.
Examples of typical tailored solutions include:
- a request for a modification such as an interface between a customer’s system and a Spirent system
- novel signal generation or presentation of signals in a non-standard way
- Generation of signals that are not supported on standard Spirent products. (e.g. future or experimental systems)
Spirent GPS/Galileo tailored solution test rack supplied to DLR
Spirent Communications was selected by DLR, Germany's national research centre for aeronautics and space, for delivery of an advanced GPS / Galileo test systems. DLR are using Spirent solutions in the context of the EU & FP6 funded project “Airborne New and Advanced Satellite Techniques and Technologies in a System Integrated Approach” (ANASTASIA).
The navigation aspects of the ANASTASIA project focus on performance evaluations in a multi-constellation, multi-frequency complex satellite signal environment. The GPS/Galileo test systems provided by Spirent will be integrated with digital processing components provided by DLR. The resulting wave front simulators will be capable of testing multiple-element, phased-array reception antennas that form part of DLR’s research work.
The Galileo simulation capabilities Spirent is providing to DLR add to an existing GPS test system that Spirent provided in 2004.
The heart of the system consists of two modified Spirent GSS7790 Galileo and GPS constellation simulators, which provide all GPS (L1, L2 and L5) and Galileo (E1, E5 and E6) satellite signals at RF, IF and baseband level.
Spirent has in depth experience of successfully integrating tailored solutions with customers ranging from government agencies, satellite and technology developers and application developers in USA, Europe and Asia.
