GPS/GNSS Simulation Systems for Military, Defense & Government Applications

Spirent military GPS solutions are used extensively for R&D at the extremes of GPS performance, accuracy and resilience. We can simulate classified codes as well as high dynamics and interference environments

GPS solutions within a Military, Defense and Government environment have several issues in common: they need to be robust, reliable and accurate. But with differing geographies and applications, testing requirements are diverse and GPS/GNSS receiver performance testing needs to take these differences into account.

GPS SIMULATION TESTING IN THE LAB

Testing in the lab with a GPS simulator will eliminate problems, reduce program cost and lead to quicker deployment. Within the controlled laboratory environment, a wide variety of testing is possible. Test configurations include the simulated GPS/GNSS signals, simulated inertial sensor data and jamming and interference sources.* Remote motion data and hardware-in-the-loop configurations can also be readily supported.
*Approvals may be required for some configurations.

GPS SIMULATION TEST PLATFORMS

Spirent provides GPS test solutions for Interference, Anti-Jam, GPS/Inertial and Interference mitigationSpirent’s comprehensive range of flexible, industry-leading GPS test systems support all current and modernized GPS signals, including P(Y)-code, SAASM, AES M-code and SDS M-code. As the test set-up is directly under user control, and repeatable, testing is more efficient and device performance can be readily characterized and optimized, including under extreme and error conditions.

Spirent has sought and acquired the approval of the GPS Wing for our approach and architecture for modernized GPS testing. Spirent has also provided on-going co-operation on test programs e.g. recent SVN-49 issue proving and testing.

GPS SIMULATION CAPABILITIES IN THIS AREA INCLUDE

  • Industry leading dynamic capabilities and signal iteration rates
  • Zero effective latency in signal processing
  • Support for all existing and modernized GPS codes, including classified signals
  • Adversarial testing, including flexible interference simulation
  • Full range of error conditions possible
  • Multi-antenna systems, modeled effects such as lever-arm and spinning vehicles
  • Options to support adaptive antenna (CRPA) testing
  • Full remote-control capability and hardware-in-the-loop support
  • Support for GPS/Inertial navigator testing including ultra-tightly coupled
  • User-defined antenna patterns and bit-level flexibility on data messages

World 3SPIRENT'S VALUE FOR MILITARY APPLICATIONS

Spirent has been consistently adding capability and features to support military GPS simulation solutions for many years now. Whether you’re involved in testing, classified signals (including GPS M-code), evaluating GPS/GNSS receiver performance, testing a new release or confirming performance meets design specification, or using test systems in the field to verify the performance of systems before deployment, Spirent can help.
