GNSS PRODUCTION TESTING ISSUES

Relying on live sky alone is risky and unreliable. GPS production test simulators represent the smart choice for those serious about product consistency and quality.

The need to implement a controlled and repeatable test method within a GNSS production test environment is important because the GNSS constellations constantly change. For example, taking GNSS signals direct from GNSS satellites overhead (live sky) via a GNSS receiver and re-radiating them within the production environment will result in:

  • Inconsistent signal conditions for each test
  • Uncertain test conditions
  • Differing pass/fail hurdle rates based on prevailing conditions
  • Additional local signal distortion due to the nature of in-building re-radiation techniques adding to the uncertainty of the testing

Spirent's GNSS Production test solutioins can save you time and moneySpirent 'one box' GNSS testing solutions have been designed from the start with ease-of-use and cost efficiencies in mind. Easily configurable to reduce test time per device, they are also rack mountable, with an in-rack calibration capability which contributes to a decrease in line downtime and disruption. Many of our systems can be upgraded in the field, from a single constellation of GPS/SBAS, to two or three constellation systems which include GLONASS and/or Galileo. This is important as navigation and positioning technology is no longer just about GPS L1 C/A code. In future, most receivers will be Multi-GNSS and will require a Multi-GNSS testing solution.

Our platforms integrate with other Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems to offer consistency, control and accuracy throughout the testing process, to deliver performance assurance, continuity and reusability - whilst also solving real-world business issues, both economic and environmental.
