ASSISTED GPS (A-GPS)

As well as products to test the GPS and Assisted-GPS/GLONASS receiver, we also have integrated systems for GNSS plus Air-Interface testing, enabling the full functionally of the handset/PND to be tested.

The A-GPS test system significantly improves the performance of GPS receivers by downloading assistance data (essentially almanac and ephemeris) to the receiver, thereby reducing the processing time to obtain a position. With A-GPS, the receiver searches for signals in a smaller “window” and hence is able to acquire and track satellites at lower power levels and more quickly.

ASSISTED GLONASS (A-GLONASS)

GLONASS used in combination with GPS helps improve availability in difficult environments due to the additional visible satellites. Calculating device position requires at least three satellite signals, and devices that use both GPS and GLONASS almost double the number of usable satellites in the sky compared to GPS alone. Therefore, GPS+GLONASS devices have a greater chance of receiving more visible signals which can dramatically increase the availability of position fix information in difficult conditions.

SPIRENT A-GPS AND A-GLONASS TEST SOLUTIONS

Spirent offers simulation solutions for A-GPS, A-GLONASS and Wi-Fi positioningSpirent provides stand-alone GNSS test systems, integrated GPS + mobile air interface location test systems as well as production test systems for GNSS devices.

Wi-Fi positioning testing is also available either stand-alone or with GNSS test systems.

Spirent’s systems provide almanac and ephemeris data streaming and, in our integrated location test systems, full assistance data generation with industry standard test cases.

SPIRENT'S VALUE FOR TELECOM & WIRELESS APPLICATIONS

TelecomsGNSS does not readily work indoors and often decisions are needed about how to compliment the satellite-based position to provide an acceptable solution.

  • GPS and GPS+GLONASS systems available
  • Wi-Fi positioning system available stand-alone or combined with GNSS
  • Wide range of normal and extreme/error conditions can be readily tested
  • User-defined or standard test cases
  • Full performance evaluation and optimisation capabilities

Solutions

  • GSS8000The GSS8000 Multi-GNSS Simulator provides up to 3 constellations (GPS/SBAS, GLONASS and Galileo) in a single chassis. GPS configurations can also support QZSS.
  • GSS6700The GSS6700 Multi-GNSS Simulation System offers multiple channels of coherent GPS/SBAS, GLONASS and/or Galileo L1 signals from a single chassis.
  • GSS6400Spirent’s GSS6400 Record Replay System is a complete, standalone system, designed for gathering data in the field and replaying it with optimal fidelity and performance back in the lab.
  • GSS6300The GSS6300 Multi-GNSS Signal Generator provides a single channel of GPS/SBAS, GLONASS and/or Galileo L1 signals for production testing on commercial GNSS receivers.
  • GSS5700A unique laboratory R&D test solution for Wi-Fi Positioning
  • GSS4200GPS Production/Field Test Multi-Channel Simulator
  • SimAUTOIn-Vehicle Navigation System (IVNS) Software
  • SimPLEX45Scenario Generation Software for the STR4500 Constellation Simulator
  • TestDrive GNSSProvides SimGEN™, SimREPLAYplus and SimREPLAY customers with an integrated test solution that automates the testing process by configuring the instruments in the system, stepping through the test sequences, and processing and storing the results, removing much of the burden of manual test setup and configuration.
