Spirent Announces Unique Collaborative OTA Seminar

Beijing, China – May 13, 2016 – Spirent Communications and ETS-Lindgren have announced an educational seminar on Over-the-Air (OTA) testing of wireless devices will be held on Thursday, May 20, at the Seaview O’City Hotel Shenzhen in Shenzhen, China. The seminar theme is “How OTA Testing Secures Quality of Experience.” A unique gathering of industry experts from CTIA – The Wireless Association®, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), Spirent Communications, and ETS-Lindgren will share the latest information on wireless standards and test methodology for wireless devices, including the CTIA MIMO OTA test plan v1.0, which was released in August 2015, and is soon to become mandatory. The seminar is ideal for those who design or test wireless devices and wish to gain a better understanding of OTA testing and learn why it’s important to network carriers and CTIA. Attendees will also learn about the latest developments on MIMO and the new test requirements of the CTIA MIMO OTA test plan v1.0.

The seminar begins with CTIA’s Will Lightfoot, who will present an overview of CTIA OTA testing and certification. Ron Borsato, Principal Architect at Spirent, will review OTA test methods and metrics. He will also address GNSS OTA and MIMO OTA implications. Alfonso Rodriguez-Herrera, Product Manager at Spirent, will discuss the current MIMO OTA status and MIMO OTA testing beyond the standards. He’ll relate this activity to the “Big Four” North American Carriers. John Xiao of ETS-Lindgren (Beijing, China) will share new directions and requirements of OTA testing. A review of the spatial channel model and its use as a validation method for MIMO OTA will be presented by Yulung Tang of ETS-Lindgren (Taipei, Taiwan).  Looking forward, Xudong An of CAICT will discuss the challenge of mobile communication testing technology in 5G, addressing massive MIMO and new transmission. All speakers are direct contributors to and participants in the CTIA standards working groups.

Tea breaks and lunch will be provided during the seminar, allowing for quality networking time with the speakers. There is no cost to attend this seminar, but advance registration is required at: http://go.spirent.com/OTA-Seminar-Shenzen.html (Chinese) or: http://go.spirent.com/OTA-Seminar-Shenzen-English.html (English) no later than Tuesday, May 18, 2016.
