Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS®) is a technology for delivering high-bandwidth digital data over a hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) network. The DOCSIS standard allows multiple devices to transmit and receive over the same physical cable. It is widely used by cable television providers on existing coaxial cable networks to deliver broadband services.

With Tech-X Flex, the technician can rapidly validate service performance and pin-point the source of all service-affecting issues all via a DOCSIS connection. The DOCSIS module allows the Field Technician to run automated testing routines that combine cable modem initialization and IP quality measurements with pass/fail thresholds; that is, comprehensive DOCSIS certification testing with a single button push. Combined with the complete suite of Tech-X Flex modules it is the industry’s leading In-Home and Outside plant field test platform.

    Benefits

    Tech-X Flex DOCSIS Module Benefits

    • Measure DOCSIS 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 signal quality and report quality metrics such as signal level, MER, and BER
    • Troubleshoot CPE, eliminating unnecessary replacement
    • Expands technician’s expertise
    • Qualify subscriber’s DOCSIS network for future service upgrade at service turn up
    • Increase subscriber satisfaction

    Features

    Tech-X Flex DOCSIS Module Features

    • Support for 4x1 through 4x4 DOCSIS testing
    • Auto configure or manually set DOCSIS type and frequency
    • Emulate customer premise equipment (CPE) to perform IP quality testing such as ping, Traceroute, Web browsing and packet loss measurements
    • Ability to function as a DOCSIS/Ethernet bridge, like a standard cable modem to enable inline testing
    • Full-rate DOCSIS 3.0 bonded services throughput testing–152 Mb/s downstream and 108 Mb/s upstream
