Data Center Testing
Spirent makes possible the end user QoE analysis that cloud computing needs to be successful.
Spirent offers the industry’s first holistic, end-to-end solution that validates tomorrow’s data centers.
Converged Ethernet
Ethernet has proven that it is the technology to invest in where competing technologies such as Token Ring, FDDI and ATM have failed. With advancements in speed, constant price reduction and the goal of simplifying the network, Ethernet is positioned to replace Fibre Channel in the SAN. But for this to happen, Ethernet in the SAN must achieve interoperability and must mimic Fibre Channel’s lossless network.
Spirent provides the ability to understand the performance of converged Ethernet from the individual components of the data center to the system as a whole. Whether benchmarking Fibre Channel, analyzing Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), or validating the performance of 40G, Spirent’s solutions help you understand the impact of introducing Ethernet in the SAN.
Network Virtualization
Virtualization is a hot trend gaining momentum in the industry since it provides the ability to better leverage the efficiencies of a large data center. Running multiple virtual machines on a single server is not a new concept, but the levels that are now possible open the door to endless opportunities for scale. But this potential also opens a lot of questions around the impact to performance.
Spirent delivers the actionable results necessary to evaluate virtualization. With the ability to test intra-server performance (from one virtual instance to another), inter-server performance (from one server to another server) and infrastructure performance (server through the network), Spirent provides you an holistic view to data center testing. Spirent not only has the specialized hardware needed to test from GigE to 100G, but also is able to correlate results with test software installed on the virtual instances. There is no other solution in the industry with this capability.
Cloud Optimization & Security
Cloud computing allows for resources to be shared and accessed remotely. Although the infrastructure is transparent to users, Service Providers and Enterprise IT Managers must guarantee that the performance is equivalent, if not superior, to locally run services. For this reason, the details of the infrastructure that makes the Quality of Experience (QoE) possible are important to the Enterprise Manager and Service Provider. Network availability, bandwidth consumption and performance under attack are critical in understanding how the system can be loaded.
Spirent enables analyses to be performed from any point within the data center infrastructure. But most importantly, Spirent makes possible the end user QoE analysis that cloud computing needs to be successful.
