Gnodal Demonstrates Low-Latency Performance of its GS-Series Data Center Switch using Spirent TestCenter at Interop Las Vegas 2012

Sunnyvale, Calif. – May 9, 2012 – Spirent Communications, the leader in testing networks, services and devices, today announced that Gnodal selected Spirent TestCenter HyperMetrics dX to showcase the performance of the GS-Series Family of switches including its latest GS-Series 40G Ethernet switch. Gnodal conducted low latency performance testing of the GS4008 and GS0072 High Speed Ethernet switches individually as well as part of a two-tier data center fabric. The test will also be showcased live during Interop Las Vegas 2012 at the Gnodal booth (number 434). The demonstration features the 32-port Spirent HyperMetrics dX, generating traffic to Gnodal top of rack switches, interconnected with the new GS-Series 40G Ethernet switch.

“The Gnodal Fabric allows for extremely low latency communication, an order of magnitude lower than competitive offerings and provides scalability to thousands of ports,” said Bob Fernander, CEO of Gnodal. “Spirent has allowed us to put our data center switches to the test and demonstrate 40GbE performance with sub 285 nanosecond latency within the GS0072 and also demonstrate the scalability of the Gnodal Fabric vital in delivering data center applications.”

Modern switch and router fabrics span multiple chassis and can be expanded to build systems supporting hundreds or thousands of ports. The density and mesh pattern traffic generation capabilities of the Spirent HyperMetrics dX module can fully load modern multi-terabit backplanes and fabrics to assess system performance and verify reliability when deployed in large mission critical environments supporting millions of user application flows.

“Forwarding performance, low-latency and flow scalability are critical metrics for data center switch vendors but accurately measuring all these metrics together is no easy task,” said Jurrie van den Breekel, director of product marketing at Spirent. “We are pleased that Gnodal has selected Spirent TestCenter to put its solutions to the test, which builds on our reputation of being the industry’s leader in testing high-speed Ethernet performance at scale with low-latency measurements for nanosecond accuracy.”
