Spirent crowns the UK’s network heroes

2012 Awards launched

LONDON, May 1, 2011 — The unsung heroes of the network world will once again have their day, thanks to this year’s Network Heroes Awards sponsored by Spirent Communications plc (LSE: SPT), the leader in network, devices and services testing. The Spirent Network Heroes Awards 2012 will be presented at a Black Tie Event in The Long Room at Lords Cricket Ground on the 27th September. Awards will be presented to those individuals judged to have made an outstanding effort in optimizing their company’s contribution in one or more of a variety of technical fields associated with networking, which resulted in business benefits to the company they work for.

“Spirent Communications instigated the Network Heroes Awards last year, as a way of acknowledging and applauding the true value of technical expertise in networking. Anyone can nominate an individual who, in their opinion, has made an outstanding contribution in one or more disciplines associated with networking that benefit their company,” said David Hill, vice president EMEA, Spirent Communications. “We’re really hoping for a similar response, if not better, than last year when we had some very strong winners in a hard fought for competition from: Cambridge Broadband Networks, Cisco, Marlow Enterprises, Steria and Verizon.” said David.

The 2012 judging panel will once again be chaired by David Clarke MBE, chief executive of the BCS –The Chartered Institute for IT, and his fellow judges will be: Camille Mendler, principal analyst and head of Enterprise Verticals at Informa, Eric Owen, vice president, Telecommunications at IDC EMEA, Tim Ring editorial & operations director of the National Computing Centre and Editor Advisor, and Greg Ferro, network architect, engineer and blogger.

The award nominations are open to everyone working in the UK who meets the various category criteria the details of which, is fully explained on the Spirent website, http://www.spirent.com/go/network-heroes

Nominations are now invited for individuals who, in the opinion of the nominator, have made an outstanding contribution to their company’s networking initiatives. The award winners and their partners will be invited to an exclusive Awards Dinner at Lords Cricket Ground, along with senior members of their organizations. Closing date for this year’s nominations is 29th June 2012.
