Brian Boyce*, Product Development Group Manager, Eatontown, NJ

BoyceBrian chose Spirent from among several job offers he received after completing his BSCE from Villanova. “Spirent appealed to me because I could see that the engineers have a lot of responsibility and are involved in many different aspects of the projects they work on. This provided a huge learning opportunity where I would be exposed to many more aspects of product development than at the other companies I was considering.”

In the past six years Brian’s role within the Spirent development team has evolved substantially. He began doing maintenance development on a mature product, then was the primary developer on a new product in a new market, and is now the group leader for this same new technology. Brian’s team is charged with developing the test system which is slated to lead Spirent’s penetration into the WCDMA market. Brian describes the challenges this presents, “Spirent is building a presence in this new market area. It is my role to coordinate with marketing and develop the best possible WCDMA test solution.” Brian works to tackle these challenges; “Within Spirent’s open and collaborative culture employees help each other when possible to advance the greater good. The exceptional employee talent pool, combined with the “will to win”, allows us to accomplish just about anything we set out to do—that’s how we think.”

In his spare time Brian enjoys various outdoor activities such as cycling, mountain biking, running, swimming, hiking, kayaking, and skiing. He competes in triathlons and other endurance events when possible. Brian is also pursuing his MBA at Rutgers University which Spirent supports via the tuition reimbursement program. Brian is pursuing challenges at many levels, making his career at Spirent both rewarding and satisfying.
